US is launching new airstrikes on Iran, Axios reports

The US is launching an airstrike on Iran, Axios reported on Wednesday evening, citing an American official.

Earlier on Wednesday, President Donald Trump said the United States would deliver a very strong response to Iran following an attack that targeted US forces in Jordan.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said, "Now it's our turn." He added that Washington would consider whether an agreement could be reached at some point, "but we will deliver a very strong blow to them."

On Tuesday, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it had launched several ballistic missiles at a US airbase and a military center in Jordan. Separately, the US military said it had intercepted a number of ballistic missiles.
