Iran signals readiness to restore diplomatic ties with Egypt

Iran has opened the door to resuming diplomatic relations with Egypt after Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran currently sees no disputes with Cairo and is ready to restore ties whenever Egypt decides and expresses willingness to do so.

Araghchi said his country seeks good relations and broader economic cooperation with all Islamic nations, especially neighboring countries. He emphasized that Tehran is also working to expand its ties with the Islamic world and Africa, guided by the principle of unity.

Regarding relations with neighboring states, the Iranian foreign minister affirmed that Iran has always maintained good relations with its neighbors and wishes to continue these ties. However, he reiterated Tehran's stance on American military bases during any US-Iran conflict, stating that any US base, wherever located, would be considered a legitimate target by Iran in the event of war.

On Lebanon, Araghchi said Iran disagrees with some of the Lebanese government's policies, expressing hope that Lebanon’s foreign ministry would show "greater rationality."

He added that Tehran seeks positive relations with all groups and factions in Lebanon and is ready to establish good ties with the Lebanese government.

Araghchi also reiterated Iran’s desire to strengthen cooperation with Islamic and neighboring countries, alongside expanding relations with Africa and the wider Islamic world.
