Arab League chief warns against Israel's continued use of force

Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the Arab League, has warned against Israel's ongoing policy of imposing security by force, strongly condemning its repeated use of military power to alter realities on the ground and expand at the expense of civilians.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Fahmy said Israeli military operations and ongoing violations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, as well as repeated attacks on Lebanon and Syria, constitute violations of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Arab states.

He added that Israeli arrogance and the expansion of force will not bring Israel security or stability, but will instead escalate tensions and widen the scope of confrontation, threatening the security of the entire region.

Call to respect sovereignty and end occupation

The Arab League Secretary-General stressed the need to respect the sovereignty of Arab states and halt Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Syria, as well as to end Israel's occupation of Arab territories, foremost among them the Palestinian territories.

Fahmy reaffirmed the importance of establishing an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as a fundamental step toward achieving peace and stability in the region.
