Qatari foreign minister to visit Iran for de-escalation talks

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, will visit Iran on Thursday.

According to Al Arabiya, the Qatari minister is expected to discuss de-escalation and ways to create conditions for dialogue during meetings with several Iranian officials in Tehran.

Previously, the Qatari foreign minister held a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, to review ongoing discussions between Oman and Iran on a proposed interim framework. This includes establishing a joint temporary shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz and agreeing to implement a joint project to clear mines from the strait.
