The Sudanese army announced on Friday that it has recaptured the Al-Mazroub area in North Kordofan following fierce battles that it said inflicted heavy losses in personnel and vehicles on the Rapid Support Forces. The announcement comes as the armed forces and their allied units continue operations on multiple fronts, according to a military statement.

Al-Mazroub holds significant geographic, economic, and strategic importance within North Kordofan, as it lies west of the cities of Sodari and Bara and serves as a key junction connecting several vital routes and secondary roads, according to Sudan News.

In its statement posted on Facebook, the Sudanese army said: "Your armed forces and supporting units continue operations on various fronts with unwavering determination and resolve to defend the homeland, safeguard its sovereignty, and restore security and stability."

The army called on residents of the liberated areas to remain calm and return to normal life, stressing that the armed forces will continue to fulfill their duty to protect civilians and secure property. It added: "Operations will continue until the country is cleansed of the terrorist militia and its supporters."

North Kordofan state, whose capital is El-Obeid, occupies a strategic position linking central and western Sudan. The state has witnessed intermittent fighting for months between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces over control of supply routes and strategic locations.
