OIC condemns settler arson attacks on Palestinian mosques

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) General Secretariat has strongly condemned the ongoing escalation of crimes and terrorism committed by extremist settler groups in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly the arson attacks on two mosques last night in the town of Qusra, south of Nablus, and the village of Kur, south of Tulkarm, where racist and extremist slogans were also scrawled on the ruins.

In a statement posted on its X account, the OIC said these crimes are part of a broad campaign of settlement expansion and aggression targeting Palestinian civilians, carried out with the participation and protection of Israeli occupation forces.

The organization noted that this wave of attacks has affected all occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Jerusalem.

The General Secretariat warned that targeting mosques and assaults on holy sites constitute a grave violation of the sanctity of places of worship, freedom of religion and belief, human values, and the principles that guarantee the protection of sacred sites. It cautioned against the dangers of fueling religious conflict and the rise of hate speech and racism against the unarmed Palestinian people.

The OIC called on the international community and all relevant international institutions to condemn these heinous crimes and to act swiftly to take all necessary measures to stop the ongoing criminal acts against the Palestinian people, including legal and legislative accountability for colonial entities and all institutions linked to the Israeli occupation and its illegal system.
