Iran ready to reopen Strait of Hormuz if US eases military pressure

An Iranian official has said that Tehran could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if Washington reduces its military pressure and lifts the blockade imposed on Iranian ports.

The senior Iranian official told Reuters that the United States must formally declare its willingness to resolve the issue diplomatically and agree on a timeline to move the process forward. He added that the Iranian delegation currently attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York has full authority to revive diplomatic talks with the United States.

According to the official, the Iranian president, who left Tehran for New York on Tuesday morning, will not meet US President Donald Trump at the United Nations headquarters in New York. However, he noted that details of an agreement to end hostilities with Washington could be discussed in New York through intermediaries, and said Tehran had submitted its proposal to the US side via mediators on September 16.

It is worth noting that Iran's central military command said on Sunday it had received information that the United States is preparing to resume military operations with support from regional countries, warning that such action would prompt a retaliatory response from Tehran without any restrictions or considerations.
