Egyptian family of three found dead after suspected car gas leak

Egyptian security authorities have revealed a tragic incident involving a family of three—a father, his wife, and their daughter—who died after a suspected Freon gas leak from their car’s air conditioning system.

The incident began when the 25-year-old daughter started feeling unwell and dizzy, a condition made worse by an existing middle ear problem. Her 66-year-old father stopped the car by the roadside to check on her. The mother also tried to help, but events took a tragic turn.

Soon, the mother began showing signs of illness, followed by the father, as the family remained inside the closed car with the air conditioning running. Minutes turned into hours, and no one realized what was happening inside the vehicle until the temporary stop became a tragedy that claimed the lives of all three family members.

Cairo security authorities received a report from local residents about three people found dead inside a car parked under the Ring Road in the Old Cairo Corniche area. Officers responded to the scene and identified the deceased as a father, his wife, and their daughter, all residents of the Zeitoun district in Old Cairo.

There were no signs of foul play; the bodies showed no visible injuries, and the family’s belongings were still inside the car. Initial investigations indicated the deaths were caused by suffocation inside the closed vehicle, with a suspected Freon gas leak from the air conditioning system.

The investigation did not end with the discovery of the bodies. Authorities began looking into why the family remained in the car for so long. According to preliminary findings, the father often slept in the car due to frequent illness, which caused concern for his brother and another relative when they could not reach him by phone. Their search led to the discovery of the car with the family deceased inside.

The car became the scene of a family tragedy, prompting investigators to examine every detail, especially since the deaths occurred under unusual circumstances and with no visible injuries. The bodies were transferred to the morgue under the supervision of the public prosecution, which ordered autopsies and medical reports to determine the exact cause of death.
