GCC chief, EU foreign policy head discuss preparations for second Gulf-European summit

Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassem Albudaiwi, held a phone call on Thursday, July 30, 2026, with Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission.

During the call, they discussed the latest preparations for the second summit between GCC leaders and leaders of the European Union, as well as related topics. They also reviewed the progress of implementing the outcomes of the first summit and the mechanisms for their execution, aiming to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the GCC and the EU.

Both sides expressed their anticipation for the second summit, describing it as a key milestone in advancing the partnership between the GCC and the EU.

They also emphasized the importance of continued joint efforts and building on the achievements and initiatives since the first summit, to enhance cooperation in priority areas. The discussions highlighted the depth of historical ties between the GCC and the EU, and the shared commitment to promoting development, prosperity, security, stability, and peace at both the regional and international levels.
