Gaza Peace Council: Heavy weapons to be secured after national committee enters Gaza

The Gaza Peace Council has revealed the provisions of its roadmap for completing the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. The plan includes the full withdrawal of Israeli forces, an end to military operations by Hamas and other Palestinian factions, a transition to Palestinian administration, and the reconstruction of Gaza.

The council emphasized that progress from one phase to the next will depend on verification of the previous stage’s completion, with an international verification committee tasked with monitoring violations by any party through an enhanced monitoring mechanism.

The Gaza Peace Council noted that Hamas and other factions have agreed to hand over civil governance and security responsibilities to the national committee, which will operate with full independence. The committee will also oversee the inventory and storage of weapons, following a timeline to be finalized within 14 days.

According to Al Jazeera, the council stated that all parties remain committed to the comprehensive peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, with the aim of restoring normal life in Gaza and strengthening security and development.

Under the roadmap, Israel is required to fulfill all its obligations under the Sharm El-Sheikh Protocol fully and without delay, including the complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

On the Palestinian side, the commitments stipulate that Hamas and other factions will end all military operations as outlined in the Sharm El-Sheikh Protocol.

Earlier on Friday, Hamas confirmed it had responded positively to mediator proposals for advancing to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, stressing that progress depends on Israel fulfilling the first phase requirements, chiefly halting attacks and withdrawing from Gaza.

In the same context, Gaza Peace Council Chairman Nickolay Mladenov stated on his X platform account that implementation and verification mechanisms must be "genuine and effective," and that Israeli troop withdrawal should proceed in parallel with weapons dismantlement. He noted that an agreement had been reached on disarmament and the transition of civilians to Gaza, following months of difficult negotiations.
