Iran’s demands stall negotiations with US, says analyst

Political analyst Aqil Abbas said that Iran’s demands have led to a deadlock in negotiations with the United States.

Speaking in a phone interview with Al Arabiya FM, Abbas explained that Tehran has introduced new conditions, including lifting certain sanctions, unfreezing assets, and seeking compensation, as if Iran were the victor and the US the defeated party.

Abbas added that Iran should reconsider these demands and focus on the main issues. He noted that if Tehran agreed to address the core files, including the nuclear issue, talks could resume. However, he said hardliners in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps currently dominate the political scene and believe they can pressure the US by threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz.
