Yemeni forces strike Houthi positions in Mocha and Taiz, target weapon convoys bound for Sanaa

Yemeni forces have announced strikes against Houthi gatherings and military equipment in areas along the western coast and Taiz province, including around Mocha port and the Mocha–Dhubab road. The operations also targeted convoys carrying weapons, ammunition, and missiles en route to Sanaa.

Armed Forces spokesperson Majed Al-Nazili said on Saturday that the forces "eliminated large gatherings of Houthi militia fighters" near Mocha port and destroyed military vehicles and weapons, according to the official Saba news agency.

Al-Nazili added that the forces "eliminated gatherings of Houthi vehicles and fighters on the Mocha–Dhubab road," which is 11 kilometers from Mocha city.

In northern Taiz, Yemeni airstrikes targeted dozens of convoys loaded with weapons, ammunition, missiles, and military equipment on Al-Sittin Street. According to military sources, these convoys were traveling from Mocha to Sanaa.

This came after air raids targeted Houthi military vehicles and patrols in the Al-Barh front, west of Taiz.

Last Thursday, Houthi forces advanced toward Mocha city and made moves in areas along Yemen's Red Sea coast. They also took control of islands in the Bab Al-Mandab area, a vital maritime passage.

In response, Yemeni forces announced a redeployment and reinforced their presence along the western coast, sending reinforcements from Mocha toward Dhubab in Taiz province.

The escalation has coincided with the displacement of at least 46,000 people since last week, according to the International Organization for Migration. Most have headed to Aden in southern Yemen, which has served as the government’s base since 2014.

Battles since last week have left more than 500 people dead, according to Agence France-Presse.
