US air defense intercepts two aircraft near Trump site in New Jersey

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) intercepted two aircraft that approached restricted airspace over Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, while former US President Donald Trump was attending a tournament at the club on Sunday.

In a statement, NORAD said F-16 fighter jets safely escorted the two planes out of the temporarily restricted airspace, with no indication of damage or threats during the incident.

NORAD did not specify whether the aircraft entered the restricted area due to pilot error, noting that the circumstances of the incident would be determined by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

NORAD emphasized that all pilots should regularly consult the FAA to stay updated on the latest temporary airspace restrictions.

The White House has not yet responded to a request for comment on the incident.

Trump is scheduled to fly back to Washington, D.C., from Bedminster later on Sunday.
