Key Takeaways
AIJournalist Sami Al-Harbi said that Taiz is bravely repelling Houthi attacks, which have imposed a blockade and prevented the entry of food and medicine, amid fierce resistance following the smuggling of large quantities of Iranian weapons by sea.
He told Al Arabiya FM that Taiz province is standing firm with the army and resistance forces, as local men repel Houthi assaults in areas such as the old airport, Jabal Han, and the outskirts parallel to Jabal Saber. He noted that Houthi militants have blown up the road linking Aden, Lahij, and Taiz, which was considered the last lifeline for supplying Taiz with essential goods and food.
Al-Harbi added that the militia is now enforcing a blockade on Taiz, also cutting off water, medicine, and food supplies, believing that the province will eventually break and surrender. However, he stressed that resistance remains strong to this day.
He continued, explaining that the Kahboub mountains occupy a strategically important position, overlooking Bab Al-Mandab, Dhubab, and Mokha. Al-Harbi said the Houthis' determination to control this front and their repeated attacks indicate their desire to regain access to Bab Al-Mandab, but all their offensives have so far been repelled.
