Palestinian health ministry warns of collapse of Gaza and West Bank healthcare

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said on Monday that the healthcare sector in the Palestinian territories is facing its most critical phase, amid the ongoing Israeli offensive on Gaza, escalating attacks by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank, and a severe financial crisis affecting the Palestinian government.

The ministry explained that the health system in Gaza is operating under extremely difficult conditions, as hospitals and health centers continue to be targeted, and there are acute shortages of medicines, medical supplies, and fuel, threatening the continuation of life-saving services.

The ministry called on the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and other humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to ensure the delivery of medical supplies, fuel, and aid to Gaza, and to open safe humanitarian corridors for patients and the wounded.

Call for urgent international action

Palestinian Minister of Health Majed Abu Ramadan stressed that protecting the health system is a legal and moral responsibility of the international community, urging practical measures to stop violations against healthcare facilities and staff.
