Abu Dhabi crown prince, Iranian president hold talks at BRICS summit

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed discussed a range of regional and international issues with Iranian President Masoud Bezhikian on Saturday during a meeting held on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in New Delhi.

According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the talks focused on the importance of supporting efforts to ease tensions, reduce escalation, and enhance stability in the region, as well as exploring opportunities for peace and development for its peoples.

The participation of the UAE and Iran in the BRICS summit comes as the bloc expands its membership. Founded in 2009 by Russia, China, India, and Brazil, BRICS later welcomed South Africa, the UAE, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and Indonesia. Saudi Arabia has also received an invitation to join.
