US Central Command reroutes 18 ships, disables 4 amid renewed Iran blockade

US Central Command has announced it has redirected 18 commercial ships and disabled and inspected four others since the blockade on Iran was reinstated.

The command confirmed that more than 20 vessels are operating in the Middle East to support military operations, including strict enforcement of the US-imposed blockade on Iran.

The Joint Maritime Information Center reported a slight increase in shipping activity in the Strait of Hormuz following a halt in airstrikes.

It added on X that commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remains at low levels. Independent tracking data showed a suppression of movement for two oil tankers in each direction.
