Trump to consult regional partners on next steps in Iran conflict

US President Donald Trump is preparing to make a major decision on Iran soon, stating that he will consult regional partners regarding the next steps in the Iran conflict, while also indicating readiness for the possibility of full-scale combat.

In comments to Axios on Thursday, Trump said: "We may have to resume large-scale military operations against Iran," adding, "The decision to eliminate the Iranian regime is significant, and all options are on the table."

The US president emphasized that the world is approaching a critical turning point in the Iran conflict, as discussions continue over the next steps in the confrontation between the two sides.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Reza Aref, a senior Iranian official, called on the United States to implement the provisions of the "memorandum of understanding" that led to the ceasefire between the two parties.

Iran's Tasnim News Agency quoted Aref as saying his country hopes "the enemy will come to its senses" and fulfill its commitments under the signed memorandum, but added that implementing it would not resolve the existing disputes with what he described as the "hegemonic system."

Aref made his remarks during the professional assembly of the Iranian University Professors Association, where he said that Iran has faced what he called a "proxy war" from its adversaries for four decades, adding that today they are engaged in a direct confrontation with Iran.
