US official: Military objectives in Iran achieved, fighting could resume

A US official told The Wall Street Journal that "the United States has achieved all its military objectives in Iran," but noted that resuming fighting remains on the table.

The official added that "President Donald Trump has informed his aides that Iran will not resume its nuclear program during his presidency."

He indicated that "Trump may extend the ceasefire with Iran, provided Tehran continues to curb its nuclear program and ensures the Strait of Hormuz remains open."
