Yemeni armed forces recapture Khazan Hill in fierce clashes west of Taiz

Yemeni armed forces on Monday recaptured Khazan Hill in Jabal Habashi district, west of Taiz province, following intense clashes with Iran-backed Houthi militants. The fighting coincided with escalating battles on the Maqbanah and Al-Kadaha fronts.

Military sources told the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) that government troops continue to engage in fierce confrontations with Houthi militants on both fronts, as reinforcements arrive to support operations aimed at repelling Houthi attacks and movements in western Taiz.

Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi said on Sunday that ongoing Houthi attacks and escalation would not alter the balance of power and deterrence built by the armed forces, nor would it grant the militants new territorial gains. He stressed that the Yemeni people and their armed forces are more determined than ever to end the coup, restore state institutions, protect the republican system, and achieve security and stability.

Al-Alimi added that the government is committed to a firm response to the militants' actions, stating that the armed forces will not waver in their constitutional duty to protect civilians. He warned the Houthis, who have tested the military's resolve in recent periods, not to misjudge the state's patience and its commitment to sparing Yemeni bloodshed.

The council chairman also urged tribal communities in Houthi-controlled areas not to send their sons into the militants' futile wars, turning them into fuel for a project that does not serve Yemen or its people. He cautioned against the Houthis' continued recruitment of hundreds of Yemenis into deadly battles serving the Iranian regime's destructive agenda in the region.
