US offered to lift sanctions on Iran in exchange for reopening Strait of Hormuz: Al Arabiya

A senior source has revealed that messages from the United States were delivered to Iran by Pakistan’s army chief, General Asim Munir.

According to Al Arabiya, the source said the US offered to end the maritime blockade on Tehran and lift sanctions in exchange for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and halting attacks by Iranian proxies.

The source added, as reported by Al Arabiya, that General Munir conveyed the offer to Iran under a memorandum of understanding. Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, General Mohsen Rezaei, told Munir that Tehran would continue internal consultations and respond soon.

Meanwhile, Mehdi Tabatabaei, assistant for communications and media affairs in the Iranian president’s office, wrote on X: “Contrary to some inaccurate media speculation, the visit of General Asim Munir, chief of the army of friendly Pakistan, to Iran was extremely fruitful and filled with highly valuable diplomatic achievements, the results of which will become clear soon.”

Pakistan’s army chief, General Syed Asim Munir, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently concluded a one-day visit to Iran as part of Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts to break the deadlock in the ongoing US-Iran conflict and explore ways to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.

The Pakistani army announced that Iranian officials expressed appreciation for Islamabad’s constructive role and sincere efforts to facilitate dialogue, reduce tensions, and reach a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
