Trump: Sanctions leave Iran unable to pay its forces

US President Donald Trump said the United States is closely monitoring inflation rates in Iran, noting that Washington is prepared to increase economic pressure on Tehran if necessary.

In remarks to Axios, Trump stated that negotiations with Iran are ongoing, describing the process as being "like a game of chess" due to its complexity and the range of possible outcomes.

He added that Iran is facing a dire economic situation as a result of the sanctions, which have severely impacted its finances to the point that it cannot afford to pay its forces.

Trump also emphasized that Washington is handling the Iran issue calmly, preferring to maintain economic pressure rather than resort to new military escalation.
