Dozens of Houthi fighters killed or wounded in failed attack west of Taiz

Yemeni armed forces early today repelled an attack by Iran-backed Houthi militants on their positions in the Al-Barh front, west of Taiz province, following intense clashes that resulted in significant losses of personnel and equipment for the militia.

A military source, quoted by the Yemeni Armed Forces Media Center on its official X account, said the Houthis deployed large numbers of fighters in the assault, using various weapons including artillery, mortars, and drones. However, government forces were on high alert, detected the hostile movements, and responded effectively.

The source added that the clashes left dozens of Houthi militants dead or wounded, and several of their vehicles, barracks, artillery pieces, and military equipment were destroyed or set ablaze.

The Yemeni military source noted that the attack was part of the Houthis' attempts to compensate for recent losses on western fronts, stressing that government forces successfully thwarted the assault, inflicted heavy casualties, and forced the remaining attackers to retreat.
