France summons Iranian chargé d'affaires over detention of embassy staff in Tehran

France has summoned Iran's chargé d'affaires after staff members at its embassy in Tehran were detained, according to Al Arabiya.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned what he described as extremely alarming acts of intimidation by Iranian security forces against French diplomats. He added that the diplomats were held for several hours without justification, interrogated, and that one was assaulted before both were allowed to return to the embassy.

France described the incident as extremely serious and unacceptable regarding the safety of its staff, warning that it would not go without consequences.
