Yemen’s Ministry of Defense has begun preparing plans to retake areas in Taiz that have been captured by Houthi forces, according to Arif Abu Hatim, adviser to the Yemeni Minister of Information.

Speaking in an interview with Al Ekhbariya TV, Abu Hatim said the defense ministry, in coordination with the Arab coalition supporting legitimacy, is developing major plans to restore control over Mokha, Hays, Al Bab, Al Jarahi, and all other locations reached by the Houthi militias.

The Yemeni official also noted there is international interest in ensuring that these Iran-backed militias do not remain openly present in Bab Al-Mandab, given its status as a vital international shipping lane. He added that the Houthis recently declared they no longer need missiles to target ships, as their mere presence on the Bab Al-Mandab coast allows them to exert control.
