Yemeni analyst: Houthis make gains but lack staying power on frontlines

Yemeni military analyst Mohammed Al-Kumaim said the Houthi militia has made some breakthroughs, but is unlikely to hold its positions on the frontlines as its forces are spread thin.

Speaking in an interview with Al Hadath TV, Al-Kumaim added that many people do not fully understand the nature of military battles or how to assess their outcomes, which can only be determined at the end and by the ability to maintain positions. He noted that the Yemeni army is inflicting losses on the Houthis while in a defensive posture, having adapted to the militia’s tactics.

He continued that the Yemeni armed forces are playing a significant role, with the air force targeting military objectives such as tanks, weapons depots, and troop gatherings, as well as key infrastructure. These strikes, along with the use of rocket launchers, mobile military fronts, and multi-layered drone attacks, have inflicted heavy losses on the Houthis.

The Yemeni army continues to carry out focused strikes on Houthi positions across all frontlines, while ensuring the security of liberated areas and the protection of civilians. Meanwhile, the Houthis are trying to hold their ground as Yemeni airstrikes target their fortifications.
