Trump warns US may launch 'very strong' strike on Iran

US President Donald Trump said American forces have inflicted "tremendous destruction" on Iran's military capabilities, emphasizing that Washington's actions are "a military operation, not a war."

Speaking at a cabinet meeting at Camp David, Trump stated that "the attack on Iran took place five months ago, during which its naval power was destroyed and its drone-launching abilities eliminated." He described Iran's conduct as "dishonest and lacking integrity regarding the agreement, but that changes nothing—their situation is extremely bad." Despite this, Trump hinted that "something will happen" with Iran, suggesting the possibility of further escalation.

Trump acknowledged that Iran still retains "some capabilities," but insisted that the conflict with Iran "is going well" from Washington's perspective. He vowed to "strike Iran very strongly" if necessary, adding, "We only want victory, and we are doing well against them."

He noted that his envoys Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, J.D. Vance, and Marco Rubio are involved in talks related to Iran, adding that "the Iranians could end this in 10 minutes, but they spend seven hours negotiating."

Meanwhile, Iranian forces have launched strikes on US bases in several Middle Eastern countries in recent days, with Tehran accusing Washington of violating a memorandum of understanding on halting combat operations.

Iranian officials have continued to stress that Tehran does not seek war, but will not hesitate to defend its territory.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said earlier that Iran remains committed to dialogue, but will respond firmly to any aggression.
