Lebanese army detains 18 Syrians for illegal entry near Ras Baalbek

The Lebanese army on Tuesday detained 18 Syrians in the Wadi Marhej area, near the outskirts of Ras Baalbek.

According to Russian media, the army said the arrests were made because the Syrians had entered Lebanese territory illegally.

Separately, an army unit in the Arsal outskirts seized 122mm Grad rockets that had been smuggled from Syria into Lebanon, along with a pickup truck used for transportation, and arrested two Lebanese nationals involved in the smuggling network.

The army also carried out raids in search of other members of the network, seizing military ammunition and equipment.
