UN voices concern over recent Israeli airstrikes on Gaza

UN Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Ramiz Alakbarov has expressed concern over recent Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, which resulted in civilian casualties and damage to vital medical supplies and civilian infrastructure.

Alakbarov reiterated the need to protect civilian and humanitarian facilities, facilitate humanitarian operations, and called on all parties to fully and sincerely uphold their obligations under international law.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs noted that ongoing military operations near the so-called "yellow line," along with reported airstrikes in other areas of the Strip, are disrupting civilian life, damaging shelters, causing new displacement, and restricting access to life-saving services.

He added that the organization and its partners are providing support wherever possible.
