Syrian security forces foil arms smuggling attempt to Lebanon

Syrian internal security forces in Tartous province, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Directorate, have thwarted an attempt to smuggle a shipment of weapons and ammunition destined for Lebanese territory.

In a statement, the internal security forces said the joint security operation led to the complete seizure of the shipment before it could be smuggled.

The statement detailed that the confiscated items included automatic rifles, RPG shells, weapon magazines, and various quantities of ammunition, all prepared for transport and smuggling into Lebanon.

Syrian authorities stressed that the operation is part of ongoing security efforts to prevent the smuggling of weapons and ammunition across the border.
