Israeli and four Palestinians killed in West Bank shootout; eight injured

An Israeli and four Palestinians were killed, and eight others injured, in an armed clash in the West Bank, according to Magen David Adom and the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Magen David Adom confirmed that one Israeli was killed and two others were seriously wounded, while another injured person was reported to be in moderate to mild condition.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that four Palestinians were killed and four others wounded in the same incident.

The Israeli military said it had launched a large-scale search for Palestinians involved in the shooting, deploying forces to an area near the settlement of Tekoa after receiving reports that Israeli settlers had come under attack while hiking.

The military added that the suspects stole the weapon of a civilian security coordinator who arrived at the scene and opened fire on the Israelis.
