Cautious optimism over possible breakthrough in US-Iran talks: source

A senior source has said there is cautious optimism regarding a possible breakthrough in negotiations between the United States and Iran.

The source told Al Arabiya that mediators require more time to reach an anticipated announcement of a ceasefire.

He added that there is a positive atmosphere concerning the halt of military operations and arrangements to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz, noting an upcoming visit by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

This comes after a stern warning from US President Donald Trump to Tehran, saying: "I want to give Iran a final chance before toppling its leadership," following his decision to halt a planned strike against Iran on the condition that negotiations resume and an agreement is reached swiftly.
