US official: Progress in Oman-Iran talks on Strait of Hormuz

A US official has confirmed progress in talks between Oman and Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz, expressing optimism that an agreement could be reached soon.

The official added that Washington will lift the blockade on Iranian ports once an agreement is announced to resume unhindered commercial shipping, according to Al Arabiya.

He clarified that US measures will remain contingent on Iran fulfilling its commitments, as he put it.

According to Kpler data, shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz dropped to 33 vessels from Monday to Thursday this week, compared to 50 vessels during the same period last week, as markets closely monitor the Oman-Iran talks for signs of progress toward reopening the vital waterway.
