Iraq seizes rocket launcher used in attack on Saudi East-West pipeline

Iraqi authorities have announced the seizure of a rocket launcher inside Iraqi territory, which they say was used in the attack on Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline. Security and intelligence agencies are continuing their pursuit of those involved, amid heightened measures to tighten control over borders and entry points.

Saad Maan, head of Iraq’s Security Media Cell, said on Saturday that the seized launcher was used in the attack on the Saudi pipeline, confirming that field and intelligence efforts are ongoing to identify those responsible. He added that the recent changes in security leadership send a clear message that Iraq "will not tolerate or allow any acts of aggression."

Maan also stated that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Al-Zaidi, has approved an Iranian request to participate in the investigation and review the findings related to the repercussions of the attack on Saudi Arabia.

Sabah Al-Numan, spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, confirmed that the government has taken strict security measures to pursue those involved in recent security breaches. He stressed that Iraqi territory will not be allowed to be used as a launchpad for attacks on neighboring countries or to undermine regional security.

Al-Numan explained that the Commander-in-Chief has issued several firm directives following recent events, including the formation of a high-level investigative committee, the dismissal of the police chief of Maysan province and the heads of security agencies in the province, and their referral for investigation. Measures have also been taken to strengthen field operations to secure borders and crossings, and to prevent any activity originating from inside Iraq that could threaten the security of provinces or neighboring countries.
