Hezbollah a major obstacle to Lebanon’s economic recovery, says US State Department

The US State Department has said that Hezbollah is the main obstacle to Lebanon’s economic recovery.

In comments to Asharq Bloomberg, the department added that disarming Hezbollah is an integral part of completing risk removal operations in the pilot areas.

The department also stated that the United States looks forward to the Lebanese Armed Forces completing risk removal operations in these pilot areas, which are seen as a viable path toward achieving peace between Lebanon and Israel.

On Saturday, the Israeli military carried out continuous airstrikes on Lebanon, killing seven people, including three children and two women. The Lebanese government condemned the strikes, which did not target Hezbollah military infrastructure and resulted in civilian casualties.
