Yemeni navy intercepts boat carrying Iranian drone parts bound for Houthis

The Yemeni navy announced it had successfully intercepted and seized a shipment of smuggled military equipment in the Red Sea, destined for the Houthi militia and originating from Iran, in an operation carried out on the 24th of this month.

The military media of the National Resistance said the operation followed precise intelligence monitoring of maritime activity run by smuggling networks directly linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. It added that National Resistance naval patrols were deployed and managed to intercept the boat at the designated time and location.

Military media released video footage showing some of the seized components, which are directly used in the manufacture and development of suicide drones. The confiscated items included advanced control systems and guidance devices for drones, equipment for live video transmission and processing, spare parts and precision electronics for fuel injection systems, wireless communication phones for drone operations, as well as communication antennas and supporting electronic components.

Military sources confirmed that initial investigations with the detained boat crew revealed detailed confessions about the coordination methods and smuggling routes overseen by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. According to military media, recordings of these confessions will be released in full to the international and local public on Monday.

Yemeni readiness and ongoing Iranian violations

The operation has once again highlighted the Iranian regime’s continued violations of international resolutions and its ongoing arms smuggling to militias. It also underscored the readiness of Yemeni naval and intelligence forces to cut off maritime smuggling routes in territorial waters. The operation further demonstrated the failure of Iran’s proxies to protect smugglers, despite a missile strike launched on the western coast during the seizure.
