Norway’s King Harald V dies at 89 after over 30 years on throne

Norway’s Royal Court announced on Friday the death of King Harald V at the age of 89, according to an official statement issued in Oslo.

In its statement, the Royal Palace said: "With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of His Majesty King Harald today," noting that his death comes after more than three decades on the Norwegian throne.

King Harald V ascended the throne following his father and led the country through significant periods in its modern history.
