Sudanese army enters Sodari in North Kordofan, pursues RSF forces

The Sudanese army entered the city of Sodari in North Kordofan on Friday and deployed its forces inside, launching a pursuit of Rapid Support Forces (RSF) elements who withdrew to areas outside the city, according to military sources cited by Al Arabiya/Al Hadath.

This development comes as part of ongoing military operations by the army and allied forces in North Kordofan against the RSF, following several days of field advances in various areas of the state.

Escalating military activity in North Kordofan

Prior to entering Sodari, the army had continued its advance in the region after recapturing the Al-Jamama area northeast of the city on September 19, following clashes with the RSF, and continued to pursue withdrawing RSF fighters.

Earlier, the army announced it had regained control of 11 areas in North Kordofan, in addition to conducting sweeps and pursuing RSF elements towards the Darfur border.

Western parts of the state have also seen military movements by the army and allied forces as part of an operation targeting RSF positions in the region, with ongoing ground operations, drone strikes, and troop redeployments along Kordofan frontlines.

Sodari's strategic location

Sodari is located in North Kordofan near North Darfur and the Northern State, making its surroundings the scene of intense military activity by both the army and RSF in recent days.

Recent field reports indicated that RSF forces remained inside the city until recently, as army units approached.

According to Al Arabiya/Al Hadath sources, the army continues its operations after entering Sodari, pursuing RSF elements who left the city, while military operations persist on North Kordofan's frontlines.
