Iran's Revolutionary Guard claims to have downed MQ-1 drone over Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Revolutionary Guard claimed on Tuesday to have intercepted and shot down an MQ-1 drone in the skies west of the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian state media.

According to Asharq, the Revolutionary Guard said in a statement that the drone was intercepted and destroyed by an advanced air defense system under its control.

Earlier today, the Revolutionary Guard announced the launch of the 'Janfada' internal security exercise in Tehran province, involving around 313,000 personnel, highlighting the scale of security preparations for any potential unrest.

Meanwhile, the US military confirmed that Iran targeted the oil tanker 'Algaia' with a drone off the coast of Oman this week, denying the Revolutionary Guard's claim that the vessel had been attacked by a naval mine.
