Yemen praises Saudi stance, warns Houthis threaten shipping and deny blockade claims

Yemen’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, praising what it described as the Kingdom’s steadfast support for Yemen, its people, and its legitimate government. The ministry highlighted Saudi Arabia’s role in backing state institutions, alleviating humanitarian suffering, and advancing political, economic, and humanitarian efforts to achieve peace and strengthen Yemen’s security, stability, and unity.

The ministry said the Saudi statement shed light on what it called violations committed by the Houthi group against the Yemeni people and national resources, adding that these actions have worsened the humanitarian and economic crisis and prolonged the conflict. It also rejected the group’s claims of a blockade on Yemen, describing them as an attempt to evade responsibility for deteriorating living conditions and obstructing peace efforts.

The Yemeni foreign ministry called on the international community to support the legitimate government in implementing UN Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution 2216, and to take a firm stance against what it described as Houthi threats to regional and international security and to freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab.

Yemen also reiterated its support for measures taken by Saudi Arabia to protect its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and maritime corridors.
