Trump says conflict with Iran nearing end, claims Tehran eager for deal

US President Donald Trump said the conflict with Iran is nearing its end, just hours after the US House of Representatives voted to restrict military operations against Tehran.

Responding to a question about the current state of the standoff, Trump stated: "We are in the final stages of the war with Iran," adding that Tehran is eager to reach an agreement. "They very much want to make a deal. We'll see what happens," he said.

In a separate development, Trump warned that the European Union's decision to allow Canada to join as an associate member would be considered a "hostile act," threatening to impose further tariffs.

He linked his threat to the "intentions" of European leaders, saying: "If the intentions are good, that's fine. But if the intentions are bad, we will impose very high tariffs on Europe," and warned that the US could halt trade with Europe in certain sectors.
