Trump says Iran seeking deal with US, talks ongoing with Houthis

US President Donald Trump said Iran wants to reach an agreement with the United States, adding, "If the deal is not a good one, I will not consider it."

Trump told Al-Sharq that his administration is also holding talks with the Houthis to explore the possibility of reaching an agreement, saying, "We will see what happens for now; they want to reach a deal."

The president added, "At the moment, they want to reach an agreement because they are being defeated on all fronts. They are suffering financially and militarily."

In a separate context, Trump described the sharp rise in fuel prices in the United States as "a very small price" compared to what the country has achieved in its confrontation with Iran, while predicting gasoline prices would fall quickly in the near future.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Gastonia, North Carolina, in support of Republican Senate candidate Michael Wathley, Trump said: "It’s a slight increase, and frankly, even if it were significant..." He added, "But it will come down quickly," referring to gasoline prices, and predicted they would "move like rockets, but in the opposite direction."
