Lebanese army chief rejects occupation of any national territory

Lebanese Army Commander General Rodolphe Heikal on Thursday reiterated his rejection of the continued presence of occupying forces on any part of Lebanese territory, stressing that the Lebanese Army will continue to stand by citizens and support their return to their regions despite ongoing challenges.

According to an official army statement on its X platform account, Heikal made the remarks during an inspection visit to the South Litani Sector Command and the Fifth Infantry Brigade in Tyre, as well as the Fifth Intervention Regiment in Kfardounine, Bint Jbeil district (south Lebanon), where he reviewed ongoing missions.

During the tour, the army chief met with officers and soldiers, congratulating them on Army Day. He expressed appreciation for their dedication and efforts, emphasizing that their sacrifices, driven by conviction and belief in their mission, are "priceless."

Heikal underlined that Lebanon draws its strength from its army, and that the success of the military institution depends on the combined efforts of all its units and personnel. He stated: "We believe every inch of our land is our right, and we reject the continued Israeli occupation of any part of our soil."

General Heikal added: "The sacrifices of our martyrs and wounded will not be in vain. We will continue to stand by our people and support their return, no matter the challenges. We believe in one unified homeland, defended by a single army that protects its borders and ensures its stability."
