The Yemeni Armed Forces announced that seven people were killed and 30 others injured in an attack by Houthi militia on the city of Mokha and its port, using rockets and drones to target both civilian and military sites as well as vital facilities.
In a press statement, Armed Forces spokesperson Colonel Majed Al-Nazeeli said the attack, which took place on Sunday, targeted civilian sites, infrastructure, staff housing, power stations, and other civilian locations in the city, in addition to military sites.
He explained that the attack resulted so far in the deaths of four armed forces personnel and three civilians, while 30 others were injured, most of whom were civilians. He noted that the majority of the wounded have since been discharged from hospitals after receiving treatment.
He added that air defense units stationed in Mokha managed to intercept and shoot down 11 Houthi drones involved in the attack.
The spokesperson described the attack as a violation of international humanitarian law and its customary rules, stressing that targeting civilians and vital facilities reflects the approach adopted by the Houthi militia in its military operations.
