Iranian president says economy is key battleground amid US pressure

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said, “Today, the most important battleground is the economy and the livelihood of the people.”

Speaking at a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council, Pezeshkian stressed the need to realistically accept the consequences of resisting American pressure on Iran, according to Iranian media. “When we decide to stand up to the enemy and resist, we must also accept the consequences of that decision. We cannot expect society to face no difficulties under wartime conditions,” he said.

Pezeshkian highlighted the importance of timely decision-making in exceptional circumstances, stating: “We are in a state of war today, and the country cannot be managed by the same rules and procedures as in the past. Managers must be able to make decisions and take action at the right time, rather than being held accountable for not following certain administrative procedures after fulfilling their duties, because wartime conditions have their own requirements.”

The president also pointed to the complex situation facing Iran, describing the simultaneous confrontation with external threats and the need to resolve internal issues as an unavoidable necessity.
