US President Donald Trump has pledged that Iran will never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, stressing that this objective will remain a permanent priority.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump emphasized that the United States will use all means necessary to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.

Trump's statement comes as the ceasefire between the United States and Iran expires today, Monday.

The two countries had signed the Islamabad Memorandum on June 18, which included 14 provisions aimed at reaching a final agreement within 60 days, extendable with mutual consent.

The memorandum called for ending hostilities on all fronts, gradually lifting the US naval blockade, ensuring safe passage for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, granting exemptions for Iranian oil exports, and releasing frozen Iranian funds.

According to the memorandum, the United States was to begin lifting the naval blockade immediately after the agreement was signed and to fully remove it within 30 days, in exchange for Iran making arrangements to guarantee the safe passage of commercial ships.

The thirteenth provision of the memorandum linked the start of final agreement negotiations to the implementation of clauses related to ending hostilities, lifting the blockade, maritime navigation, oil export exemptions, and the release of frozen funds.
