King Salman Humanitarian Center launches orphan support and family empowerment project in Somalia

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) yesterday launched a project to renovate and support orphan care centers and promote economic empowerment for their families in the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The initiative includes refurbishing and equipping orphan care centers, maintaining essential facilities, providing kitchen equipment and safety tools, furnishing living quarters, and upgrading classrooms. Students will also receive school uniforms, bags, and educational supplies.

The project further offers training for orphaned children's mothers who are the primary breadwinners, teaching them basic sewing skills and providing sewing machines and materials to help them achieve economic self-sufficiency and better support their families.

Target groups and implementation areas

The project aims to benefit 905 orphaned children across four care centers, as well as 200 mothers supporting orphans in South West State, Banadir region, and Galmudug State.

This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian and relief programs provided through KSrelief, aiming to improve the living conditions of orphans and their families in Somalia.
