Trump seeks deal with Iran to reopen Strait of Hormuz, academic says

Political science professor Nabil Mikhael said US President Donald Trump is seeking an agreement with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resolve the crisis.

Speaking to Al Ekhbariya channel, he added that Iran is demanding compensation for the war and the release of its frozen assets.

Mikhael noted that if Trump succeeds in resolving the crisis, it could have significant domestic repercussions, as he would be seen by American voters as genuinely working to end the standoff.
