Trump seeking Iran deal to reopen Strait of Hormuz, says academic

Political science professor Nabil Mikhael said that US President Donald Trump is seeking an agreement with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the crisis.

Speaking in an interview with Al Ekhbariya channel, he added that Iran is demanding compensation for the war and the release of its frozen assets.

Mikhael noted that if Trump succeeds in resolving the crisis, it would have domestic repercussions in the United States, as he would appear to voters as genuinely working to end the standoff.
