Iranian President Pezeshkian to attend UN General Assembly in New York

Iran's Tasnim news agency has reported that President Masoud Pezeshkian will travel to New York in the coming days to attend the United Nations General Assembly meetings.

According to the agency, Pezeshkian will deliver a speech before the General Assembly outlining Iran's positions on global issues, particularly the US-Israeli conflict with Iran. He is also expected to hold meetings and discussions with leaders of several countries.

Last week, the US State Department announced that President Donald Trump's administration would allow senior Iranian officials to attend the UN General Assembly in New York, despite ongoing hostilities between the two countries.

The State Department stated that a "main delegation" from Iran would be permitted to participate in the General Assembly meetings. Pezeshkian is expected to address the General Assembly on Wednesday.

Separately, Iran's Joint Armed Forces Command said Tehran has received information indicating that the United States is preparing to resume military operations.

In a statement quoted by Tasnim, the command warned that any US attack would trigger sustained strikes on American bases and interests in the region. It also cautioned regional countries supporting a US assault on Iran that they would be considered parties to the conflict.
