Trump predicts swift victory in Iran conflict, fuel prices to drop

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that developments in the conflict with Iran will be resolved quickly, whether through continued fighting or by reaching an agreement, stressing that Iran will not obtain a nuclear weapon.

Trump stated that the United States has prevented Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, and that Tehran knows it will not get one. He also said the US "will win the Iran war very soon," and predicted a significant drop in fuel prices.

He added that US officials spoke today with mediators regarding Iran. Earlier, in an interview with Fox News, Trump said the US would win the conflict by combining economic pressure on Iran with military action.

Trump’s remarks come as indirect contacts between Washington and Tehran continue through intermediaries. He previously said he expects further talks this week.
